August Bank Holiday Driving Safety Tips

All over the country, thousands of drivers will be taking to the roads to get away for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Here are some of our top August bank holiday driving safety tips for you to follow. Hopefully, they will help you avoid spoiling the day with a breakdown.

August Bank Holiday Driving Safety Tips

1- Walk around the car before you set off to check for problems, paying attention to your lights and tyres especially.

2- Check your tyres’ tread depths and pressures. Remember the spare wheel.

3- Check that all fluid levels are topped up.

4- Ensure that you have breakdown cover or the number of our Ellesmere Port garage.

5- Keep an atlas in the car so you can say where you are if you need to ring for help. Don’t rely on sat nav or your mobile phone – you may not always have enough battery!

6- Keep some pound coins in the car in case you have to use a payphone.

7- Check your phone’s battery is charged before you set off – and take a car charger for it.

8- Write your motor breakdown provider’s number down and keep it in the car – if it is on your certificate, keep that in your car.

9- Buy a reflective red warning triangle and use it to warn oncoming drivers if you do have a breakdown.

10- Keep a bag with a set of warm clothes, a rug and chocolate in the boot – even the British summer can be cold, and if you are stuck in traffic for a long time, a bottle of drinking water would be welcome.
